Rusty Cecile's Story

Schooling after Shadle? I have eight years of college which includes a BA and Masters degrees. I majored in education and probably should have gone into law. I totally enjoyed my teaching and administration work, but now find I am spending much time helping others find answers to legal questions in their lives. Maybe I will just go back to school and get the "law" sheepskin to prove I know what I am doing, legal-wise. I have not lived what one would call a normal life. Some of my experiences (in additional to the "normal" things: family, friends, etc) have included numerous "jobs" which included (but were not limited to) waitressing and "car- hopped" my way through college; bartender; stud-logger; worked at a gold mine; artist painting murals on vans, trucks and buildings; only female counselor at a Boy's Reform School-Forestry Camp in the State; District Court Judge Pro. Tem.; Title IV Indian Education Director for four School Districts; Tutor Coordinator; Recreation director for a town's summer children's programs and a Recreation director for a nursing home; Conference Organizer; vice-principal; Teacher (in schools from 100 students to 2000+students, from the ocean, to the desert, to the mountains, from kindergarten to college); (My favorite teaching assignment was at an alternative school in Pasco, WA); A free-lance artist; a writer; and an ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ working in jail and motorcycle ministries. I have three unique and precious sons, and two step-daughters, and a bevy of grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Lines from one of my published poems say: "I was going to change the world. Instead, I changed diapers, and sheets, and husbands." It says I changed husbands. Well, I have four deceased husbands. As I look back on my life, I have crowded a lot of LIVING into a few quickly-flying-by years. In addition to those marriages, I was single for 9 years and those are the years I have gleaned a lot of infor...Expand for more
mation for my "single parenting" articles I have written. (see comment later in this section) My current husband is an ordained minister, as I also am. We are very active in jail and motorcycle ministries. In season, we travel coast to coast on a bike and sidecar pulling a tent trailer and help people along the way. Otherwise, we are associate pastors at the Victory Christian Center in Republic, WA. The one person from my school years at Shadle who I'd most like to see again is Kay Cameron, because of all the students in school, she KNEW what she wanted to do with her life and was able to verbalize it. I want to know if she has been able to REALIZE that life that she had planned. The person from Deer Park who I'd like to know about is Archie Huston. I often wondered what happened to him and how his life played out... with emphasis on the "play". He was a lot of fun "back in the day" and was quite a "player", as they say now. If anybody knows about him, let me know, okay? I am writing a lot these days. I write christian articles and stories for magazines and am working on a couple of novels. I like to do historical fiction and time travel. My most recently accepted article will be published in the Focus On The Family magazine, Single Parenting in their Christmas issue. I still love history (as shown in the time travel stories) as well as learning just about anything new. I have always liked to learn and think and share ideas. I rarely get to share the ideas, in person, these days, other than in my writing. I think part of that is my geographical isolation and my "in a rut" habits I have acquired lately. But, I am online a lot and communicate that way, too. I also enjoy painting, especially watercolors. I do paint holiday windows on the stores in our little nearby town (Republic, WA). That is more for the fun than the money. ....I may add more to this later, but that is all I want to say right now. God bless you and yours, Rusty (Cecile Kenney) La Violette
